What is the economic value of medical researc?

Accordning to a new British study, society benefits by 25 pence per year for every pound invested in research - every year, forever.

The figure is the result of a number of "What is it worth?"-studies set out to understand the economic return of medical research. The studies have been backed by a consortium of research funders for the last decade.

The hope is that a better understanding of the economic impact of research investment will help provide accountability, secure future funding, and demonstrate how research translates into real-world health improvements.
